“Burn This is neither a straight play nor a gay one (or perhaps it’s the first play that’s truly both straight and gay), a comedy that laughs at its own tragic roots, a love story in which the lovers are scared to death of one another, a play about art in which the strongest sensibility belongs to a character who looks upon artists as frauds... The play has a voracious vitality and an almost manic determination to drive right into the highest voltage that life can register”
—Jack Kroll, Newsweek
Burton a character in the play states that the way to make art real an artist must “Make it personal, tell the truth and then write, ‘Burn This’ on it”. Burton is a successful sci-fi screenwriter and his girlfriend Anna is a dancer trying to break into choreography. As good as they are in their artistic fields they feel their art is incomplete. They have lived safe lives averting decisions that can bring unpredictable situations upon them.
One night after a tragic event a stranger named Pale enters Anna life. The unstable, unpredictable and very dangerous Pale who can bring out the best in Anna or destroy everything she has already built.
