MJ is originally from Long Island, holds a BA in Theatre Education (Emerson College 2010) and is working towards his MFA in Playwriting (Boston University 2012). His plays have been workshopped and produced by Another Country Productions, CoLab Theatre Company, Emerson College, FV Productions, Happy Medium Theatre, Small Theatre Alliance of Boston, Thread Anthology and Umbrella Theatre Company. Awards include Jack Welch Scholarship (2010), Evvy Award (2010 for LETHOLOGICA) and Young Playwrights Incorporated (2008 for VIDEO IS AN ENDANGERED SPECIES). Ginger Lazarus is an award-winning playwright whose work has been frequently produced in her native Boston and beyond. Recent projects include A Blessing and a Curse: A Duet of Plays on Motherhood, an evening of two one-act plays presented by Spiced Wine Productions; and Mary, a short film based on her stageplay, which was screened at film festivals in Connecticut and New Hampshire. Her play Matter Familias received an IRNE nomination for Best New Play of 2004; other honors include the 1999 John Gassner Memorial Playwriting Award for MOCKBA: A Play About Moscow and selection as a ten-minute play finalist in the 2002 Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival for Shooting Sparks. Her plays have been produced locally by Boston Playwrights’ Theatre, Another Country Productions, Centastage, Queer Soup, Playwrights’ Platform, and the Boston Theater Marathon, and have been featured nationally in Untitled Theater’s 24/7 Festival (New York), Philadelphia Gay and Lesbian Theater Festival, Pan Theater Ten Minute Play Festival (San Francisco), Women’s Theatre Project’s Naked Women Fully Clothed (Ft. Lauderdale), and the Last Frontier Theatre Conference Play Lab (Valdez, Alaska). Two of her short plays also appeared at the Warehouse Theatre and Canal Café Theatre in London. Ginger holds a master’s degree in playwriting from Boston University and teaches at the University of Massachusetts Boston and Emerson College. She is a member of the Dramatists Guild, StageSource, and Rhombus playwrights’ group.

Recently a Huntington Theatre Playwrighting Fellow, Kirsten’s work combines elements of magical realism with pronounced uses of language: the result is a body of plays that possesses a heightened sense of realism while exploring how race, class, and culture intersect in these United States of America. Her plays include Milk Like Sugar, which received a TCG Edgerton Foundation grant and was commissioned and produced at La Jolla Playhouse, as well as produced at Playwrights Horizons and co produced by La Jolla, Playwrights Horizons, and The Women’s Theater Project; the American Critics Award nominated Bossa Nova, which premiered at Yale Repertory Theatre in December 2010 and was the recipient of a TCG Edgerton Foundation grant; and The Luck of the Irish which will premiere next March at the Huntington Theatre Company in Boston. Kirsten and Ms. Bensussen are also currently coteaching a course at Emerson that is working to adapt the controversial Common Ground by J. Anthony Lukas about Boston’s school bussing program for the stage that will be written and presented by students in Emerson’s graduate and undergraduate Performing Arts program. Kirsten is a member of New Dramatists and Rhombus and is currently working on commissions from Yale Repertory Theatre-Little Row Boat—a piece about Sally and James Hemings and their relationships with Thomas Jefferson, and Denver Center Theatre—Real—about the collision between virtual and actual mothering, as well as two commissioned projects with The Goodman Theater and La Jolla Playhouse. She Kirsten’s development experiences include residencies at Woolly Mammoth as a National Endowment for the Arts grant recipient, Sundance Theater Labs, McCarter Artists Retreat, Sundance at Ucross, the O’Neill, Bay Area Playwrights, Page 73, A.S.K, South Coast Repertory/Pacific Playwrights Festival, Cherry Lane, and Madison Repertory Theatre. Earlier work includes Rust (Magic Theater), Sans-Culottes in the Promised Land (Actor’s Theatre of Louisville/Humana Festival), Familiar (Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival Lorraine Hansberry Award), and Feeding Beatrice: A Gothic Tale (Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival David Mark Cohen Award, 2nd Place, and Lorraine Hansberry Award, 2nd Place. She studied playwrighting with Darrah Cloud at Wesleyan University (where she was a U.S. History major) and was a Barry Kemp Fellow when she attended the Playwright’s Workshop at the University of Iowa, where she earned her MFA.
is a Boston-based actor and playwright. His play "The SUperheroine MOnologues", co-authored with John Kuntz, has had successful runs in Boston and Los Angeles and is currently being optioned in San Diego, Arizona and London. Rick is currently in the MFA/Playwriting at BU. As an actor, Rick has clocked in 800+ performances in the long-running comedy Shear madness and can currently be seen playing Dillon in The Friends of Eddie Coyle at Oberon, the second stage of the ART.
